Abstract:

In this study Paeonia suffruticosa ‘Luoyanghong’ and ‘Huhong’ were used as the test materials. Effects of different concentrations of 6-BA and GA3 on physiological characteristics including net photosynthetic rate (Pn), soluble sugar, soluble protein and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents, and relative membrane permeability during leaf senescence were determined. The results showed that spraying 6-BA and GA3 at concentrations of 100, 200 and 300 mg•L-1 on July 30th could improve Pn, and soluble sugar and protein contents significantly, while MDA accumulation in leaves was inhibited obviously, and the relative cell membrane permeability was reduced. The appropriate concentration of the two kinds of growth regulator was 300 mg•L-1. Spraying 6-BA or GA3 at the concentration of 300 mg•L-1 on August 10th could effectively delay leaf senescence of ‘Luoyanghong’ and ‘Huhong’, while 6-BA and GA3 of lower concentrations showed no remarkable effect.
